Men and women are involved in this program by order of local criminal justice systems and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for drug related crime and misdemeanors. Licensed Chemical Drug Counselors provide treatment. Participants stay in the program for up to fifteen months. In Texas, where most crimes are drug related, The Substance Abuse Program is an effective safeguard against the vicious cycle of recidivism.
